As a connoisseur of treats nothing beats the mouthwatering taste of homemade dog biscuits baked with love (Thanks mom!) . So, to spread the love here is a healthy dog biscuit recipe that your pup will love, a tribute to my cheese and carrots obsession. This recipe is sure to be a crowd pleaser for all those grrrowling tummies (yours included). Your dog will enjoy chomping on this great tasting treat. With one bite who could blame him or her, drooling lips says it all !
Homemade Easy Cheesy Pleasy Carrot Dog TreatsIngredients:
2 Tsp. Baking Powder
2 3/4 c. Flour
2 Tbs. Bran
1/4 c. Shredded Carrots
1/4 c. Shredded Cheese
2 Tbs. Olive Oil
3 Tsp. Minced Fresh Parsley
1/2 c. Water
1. Preheat an oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a baking sheet.
2. In a bowl mix together the dry ingredients: flour (wheat/white), baking powder & bran
3. Next, in a separate bowl, combine all the rest of your ingredients.
Shredded Carrots (washed but with the skins on), shredded Cheese of choice ( I love cheddar), Olive Oil & fresh parsley (great for doggy bad breathe).
4. Combine both mixtures and add water slowly. Mix thoroughly for 1-2 minutes. The dough should be nicely moist but not wet!
5. Flatten the dough to no less than 1/4 inch thickness. Cut in to 1 1/2 inch by 3 inch strips. You could also use cookie cutters for a little more whimsy! Place them on the greased baking sheet.
6. Place into the pre-heated oven on the middle rack and bake for 20-30 minutes. If your dog is like me then he or she will be the official oven watcher. Biscuits should be brown and slightly crunchy! As they cool, they will harden further.
7. Although your excited dog may want a nibble fresh out of the oven make certain the treats are cooled down before serving. Since the treats do not contain any preservatives (added bonus) for freshness and longer shelf life store in a air tight container.
